Austrian GP 2024

The Austrian Grand Prix, also known as the Red Bull Ring, is truly an experience of its own. In 2024, I had the chance to go, and believe me—there’s so much more happening than what you see on TV! Let me take you through how it really is.

The Weather

On TV, you’ll occasionally see the temperature pop up on the screen, but that doesn’t really tell the full story. Well, let me tell you: it was **hot**. The whole weekend, temperatures were around 30°C, and the sun was blazing all day long. We thought we had a good spot in the grandstand with a roof over us… but of course, our seats were just where the roof ended. So yeah, we were sweating a lot that weekend.

Walking, Walking, and Even More Walking

If you think you're just sitting comfortably in the grandstand all day, think again. I easily walked around 25 kilometers that weekend, and a lot of it was uphill. You walk from the campsite to the circuit, from the circuit to the fan zone, then back to your seat... and that cycle repeats all day long. By the end of the day, trust me, your legs will feel it.

The Crowds

Something you don’t really notice on TV is just how crowded it actually is. If you’re in line for food or drinks? Get ready to wait. And in that heat, you’ll be so relieved when you finally get your hands on something cold. The fan zone is also packed—every activity has a long line, so patience is key if you want to try anything!

The Atmosphere

But honestly? You forget all of that the moment you feel the energy of the circuit. Its nothing like watching at home. Youre surrounded by people who share the same passion, and that feeling is just magical. The cheering, the roar of the cars, the tension—it all adds up to an experience youll never forget.

Not Only F1

Besides Formula 1, there are three other categories you can watch: Formula 2, Formula 3, and Porsche Supercup. So, you’re never sitting still! And if you feel like doing something else for a while, the fan zone has plenty to offer. There are Q&A sessions with drivers and team principals, you can take a photo on a mini podium, try out sim racing, grab some merchandise, or just enjoy some good food!

The Nature

Besides all the racing action, there’s something else worth admiring—the nature! You’re surrounded by mountains and rivers, and it’s absolutely stunning. To get to the circuit, you actually have to walk up a mountain, so make sure to wear your walking shoes. Part of the walk even takes you through the forest, making the journey to the track an experience in itself!
