Yas Marina Circuit
Located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the Yas Marina Circuit was completed in October 2009, after construction began in 2007. It hosted its first F1 race that same year, with Sebastian Vettel taking the victory. The track is designed by Hermann Tilke and stretches 5.281 km, with 58 laps and a total race distance of 306.183 km.
A highlight of the circuit is the 1.2-km straight between Turns 5 and 6, perfect for overtakes. The tricky section through Turns 10-12 adds to the challenge. After modifications in 2021, the track became even more exciting. Max Verstappen holds the lap record at 1:26.103.
With 58 laps of high-speed action and technical corners, Yas Marina remains a fan favorite on the F1 calendar.
Abu Dhabi 2024
Constructors championship
It's already the very last race of the season, and here are a few things to keep in mind: even though Max Verstappen has already secured the World Championship, the Constructors' Championship is still up for grabs. To clarify, a driver can become champion, but so can a team. Points from both drivers in a team are combined for the Constructors' points. Ferrari and McLaren will battle it out for this title in Abu Dhabi. How the teams perform in Qatar will determine who has the upper hand heading into the final race. More details to come! One of these teams will be crowned champion in Abu Dhabi!
A lot of goodbyes
There are also some sad goodbyes to note during this race weekend. We will be saying farewell to Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Kevin Magnussen, Franco Colapinto, and Liam Lawson.
The latter two are still uncertain. There’s still an open spot at the Visa Cash App RB team, which they haven’t officially announced yet. This is likely due to doubts about whether Sergio Perez will stay with Red Bull in 2025, even though he has a contract. After the recent performances, there’s been some questioning, so we might still see one of these two drivers return next year.
End of an era
Hamilton will be driving his last race with Mercedes this weekend. Next year, he will be joining Ferrari, where he will replace Carlos Sainz. Sainz, therefore, will also be racing his final race in Ferrari colors this weekend. Starting next year, he will be racing for Williams. It's truly the end of an era for both drivers as they make these significant team changes.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2023
Max Verstappen dominated the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, converting pole position into a comfortable victory, his 19th win of the season. The race was a strong finish to a remarkable year for Verstappen and his Red Bull team. He successfully fended off Charles Leclerc and steadily built a lead, ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of the pack. Sergio Perez finished second, but a five-second penalty for a clash with Lando Norris dropped him to fourth. Leclerc and George Russell rounded out the podium in second and third.
There was also significant drama throughout the race, with Perez’s penalty reshuffling positions, particularly in the battle for second in the Constructors' Championship. McLaren's Norris finished fifth, and teammate Oscar Piastri came sixth, while Fernando Alonso and Yuki Tsunoda completed the top ten. The race saw strategic pit stops, on-track clashes, and penalties that influenced the final results.
